Certified Medical Assistant (C-MA) Dermatology Experience Required

The Certified Medical Assistant provides comprehensive patient care coordination and administrative assistance to dermatology patients and clinical providers. The Certified Medical Assistant acts as a liaison between management and staff. The Certified Medical Assistant in the office setting is a specialty requiring a variety of skills, including but not limited to: Receptionist, registration duties, ICD-10 coding, scribe, data collection for billing procedures, point of sale functions, maintains appointment schedules, schedules surgeries/procedures and obtains appropriate authorizations and referrals, provides appropriate patient instructions per physician orders.

The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day provider and clinical operations. The Certified Medical Assistant will manage the supply ordering and inventory controls and typical administrative clinical functions.
Functions:
- Demonstrates competency and professional responsibility in the medical assistant role.
- Collaborates in the development and evaluation of patient care.
- Applies interpersonal and verbal communication skills to educate patient/family on care and resources.
- Chart review for completeness.
- Perform treatment procedures under supervision of physician or advanced practice provider (APP)
- Assist physician and/or APP in exam rooms
- Serve as a Scribe during the patient physical exam using the practice electronic health record
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients of current and prior medical history, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
- Ensure all related reports, pathology/labs and information is filed/stored is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
- Answer telephones and take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to
patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Triage and process messages from patients and other office staff to physician(s) and APPs
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
- Handle insurance certifications, authorizations, and referrals as required by managed care plans and/or payers
- Assist with the check-in and check-out procedures (including in-room product or services at point of sale)
- Assist in capturing, reporting, and missing elements process of physician and APP patient billing
- Assist in coordination of provider scheduling, travel arrangements, or expenses, as needed
- Obtains patient information and inputs into the computer
- Administer or handle medications
- Obtains and records (for example):
• Vital signs
• Time in/date
• Weight
• Medication profile
• Immunization record
• Allergies
• Chief compliant
• Signature/initials where appropriate
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
All Professionals:
- High school graduate or its equivalency
- Medical Assistant Certification required
- Experience in medical field; specifically, the specialty of dermatology
- Typing, filing accurately
- Must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in the care of patients
- Must possess comprehensive computer skills
- EHR (Electronic Health Record) experience; Modernizing Medicine EMA, preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
